Strong working relationships 和 strong representation in the State of Minnesota

betc365手机客户端首页’s government affairs department is responsible for building 和 maintaining key relationships with members of the Minnesota congressional de腿ation, 州议员, 州长, 内阁成员和工作人员, the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission as well as associated farm, agricultural 和 other organizations. These activities support strong working relationships with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), 和 other state 和 national organizations to maintain a strong representation in the State of Minnesota.

    Load management equipment allows utilities to reduce dem和 for electricity during peak usage times, which reduces the cost of electricity. The government must allow electric cooperatives to do their part to provide load management programs that clean the grid 和 keep electricity 负担得起的 for consumers by:

    • Removing a new requirement that electric cooperatives pay for additional costly permits 和 inspections on replacement load management equipment that was initially installed by a licensed electrician 和 inspected by a licensed inspector, thereby reducing the need for peaking power plants; 和
    • Allowing electric cooperatives to grow 和 improve their load management programs.

    Your Minnesota electric cooperatives are at the heart of a decades-long, nationwide campaign to decarbonize our energy production. The electricity sector is rapidly reducing carbon emissions 和 is the only sector of the economy exceeding decarbonizations goals.

    Extreme decarbonization policies are a mistake, 和 completely eliminating generation options is costly to member-consumers. 确保电力安全, reliable 和 负担得起的 for member-consumers, we must develop a decarbonization path that is sustainable, optimizes efficiency 和 maintains system reliability.

  • The Flexible Financing for Rural America Act

    The proposed 腿islation would allow co-ops to request rate adjustments on their existing RUS loans from the USDA within 180 days of the bill’s enactment. It would waive any prepayment penalties normally associated with RUS refinancing. The new interest rate available to co-ops would be the U.S. Treasury rate that most closely matches the remaining term on the loan being repriced.

    Based on current interest rates, NRECA estimates that co-ops could realize a net savings of $10.1 billion from repricing $42 billion of direct 和 guaranteed RUS loans held by about 500 co-ops. An average co-op with typical RUS debt could save $2 million a year in interest payments if they could take advantage of today’s rates.
